A strong start to the week always requires a good look, especially as we head into the (somewhat dreaded) winter months. I love a good autumn-worthy outfit, so let’s hope snow doesn’t come too soon!
To jump into November, I’ve been eyeing this Zara plaid scarf (above, right) for weeks and finally gave in – the perfect combination of shades for Thanksgiving and the increasingly brisk season. The oversized striped scarf (left) is a colorful addition to any bundled up ensemble. Clearly, I have a weakness for a good plush scarf…
The flats, though perforated, are a fun take on a classic, solid slip-on – good for a little playful pop just up until the snow starts to accumulate.
Why polaroids? I love the idea of veering away from all things digital and capturing the moment in another artistic sense – just a fun idea for the coming weeks as the semester winds down.
A phone case update is long overdue – I’m in love with this clear one from Kate Spade. What better for a winter pick-me-up than a little reminder of sunshine?
And most importantly (or so I feel), the panama hat is this year’s ultimate accessory. It’s just about time to finally add one to my own wardrobe, and this soft brown shade is just muted enough to pair perfectly with many layered neutrals.
*Disclaimer: I don’t actually endorse pleather, but I needed some alliteration in my headline…
I love a good leather item; bags and shoes in the versatile texture fill my closet during any season. Now, even for the colder months, leather skirts are a must have, and I finally invested in one the other day for only $10 on sale at Urban Outfitters..there’s no way you can pass that up!
Plaid is also making a huge comeback from it’s reputation as either a 90’s faux pas or typical Vermont wardrobe staple. I’m loving the chic silhouettes and clean-cut tartan print ensembles that are big this fall/winter.
Just the other day, I discovered this HuffPost Style article all about the pink coat trend for fall. Wait wait, hold on…I completely called this one weeks ago. Pastels for fall? Yes please! Make sure to check out my first style column of the semester in my campus newspaper – The Defender. Here’s a little preview:
“But really, who wears pastels in the fall? This season is all about burnt orange and crisp fallen- leaf-colored fabrics in heavy textures to shield from the brisk chills of an oncoming Vermont winter (that I seriously dread every year). There are pumpkin lattes at all of my favorite coffee shops and apple picking and hay rides and chunky sweaters, but pastels?! That’s so spring, right? Well, not anymore.”
I was browsing my Twitter feed the other day and came across this image (below) from Lucky Mag; proof that pink is here to stay this season.
