I’m reluctant to say it, but I miss summer terribly. Although the relentless heat is often paired with daily complaints, with the current onset of winter, I’d love for the warmth to return. This flannel look was photographed this summer and never went up on the blog — a bit of a throwback, of sorts. It’s probably one of the softest flannels I’ve ever come across, with a slight watercolor effect and perfect, casual Vermonty vibe. I’d pair it with white Converse and a black shearling jacket for this season.

Call me biased, but Vermont is probably the most stunning place during the (short-lived) autumn months. St. Mike’s has perfected the ivy-covered, fall-leaf natural allure, which calls for equally seasonal attire. This gold-embroidered army green jacket is just the right thickness for keeping warm during chilly walks to class, but not overheating when the sun decides to peek through (typical indecisive Vermont weather). This geo-patterned scarf is from the men’s section at Urban Outfitters & it never loses its body like so many scarves do – honestly, UO is my only reliable scarf source thus far.
P.s. – how beautiful is this lighting? My lovely friend Lauren Carter has been killing it with my blog photos – check out her site here!
Sweaters in the summer are nearly impossible, much to my disappointment. Hot, humid days in the northeast call for light & airy fabrics, which means putting off all of those perfect chunky knits until fall. BUT when I found this knit sweater tank on clearance yesterday, I knew it would be the perfect mix of both – breezy enough for the sticky summer days while still channeling my favorite season’s staple (autumn & sweaters, of course).
This morning I paired the tank with my go-to black jeans and new white Steve Madden sandals to grab breakfast with my mother and Lola in Lake George. Luckily, my chocolate chip pancakes and iced coffee managed to stay off all of the white pieces – success! (PS – Cafe del Lago has THE BEST chocolate chip pancakes I’ve ever tasted. Honestly. If you’re ever in Lake George village, it’s a must).
I’ve been somewhat unintentionally opting towards darks and black leather touches in my summer wardrobe, an edgier vibe that I would ordinarily tie with a crisp autumn day. However, I’m definitely not opposed to this look for the hot summer months (though obviously with a bit less material…sorry, leather jackets, you’ll have to wait it out).
Yesterday I paired a green & leather-trimmed vest with a simple draped white tank and my new, bright white Steve Madden sandals (half off at TJMaxx – IN LOVE). Full outfit post to come soon, but in the meantime, I’ve pulled some of my top inspo (above) from Pinterest…are you feeling it for the summer? Thoughts?
