tickled pink: paper + petals

Did I ever mention that I love pink?

Oh yeah, quite a bit. Not often to wear, but very commonly in pretty paper goods and fresh flowers (reason #100-something to hate winter in the Northeast). I’m also an avid pinner, so you can only imagine the excitement when I get to mix the two. For new DIY inspo, I turned to my tried-and-true shade for a little start of the week/end of the weekend pick-me-up. Plus, there will be time to actually do them over break next week…stay tuned!

paper:

This pretty dip-dyed stationary is first on my list of DIY to-dos. How sweet is this vibrant shade? The original says for Valentine’s Day, but this would definitely work for any time of year.

petals:

There’s nothing like a fresh bouquet of flowers. Even better? A neatly + prettily wrapped bouquet. This simple wrapping guide makes gift giving a breeze – the paper is so perfect that I’m tempted to do it just for myself!

double take: look-alike sunnies

I was shopping downtown with Lauren this weekend and stumbled across a super cute pair of sunnies, vaguely reminding me of a pair I’d seen before. Later, after regretting not buying them, it dawned on me that they were the perfect pair of look-alikes for the highly coveted Karen Walker “super duper strength” pair that I’ve seen on quite a few bloggers that I follow (see: here, here + here).  For only $16, it’s a fantastic affordable find (one day, Karen Walker, one day soon…)

I’m a sucker for blush pink. Anything pink, actually.

Home accents, flowers and paper goods are the usual culprits, as I almost always steer clear of the girly hue for clothing. Pink can be too much of a pop, even gaudy, but not when it comes to the barely-there shade for these super cute slides. They’re the perfect mix of pretty + playful (and fairly practical, too). Currently on sale at Piperlime, they were a no-brainer buy.

With classes all day on Mondays, I threw on this comfy waffle-knit tunic sweater for my usual go-to casual attire (+ a little extra punch of pink) for a jam-packed schedule.

How do you wear pink in the winter?

A strong start to the week always requires a good look, especially as we head into the (somewhat dreaded) winter months. I love a good autumn-worthy outfit, so let’s hope snow doesn’t come too soon!

To jump into November, I’ve been eyeing this Zara plaid scarf (above, right) for weeks and finally gave in – the perfect combination of shades for Thanksgiving and the increasingly brisk season. The oversized striped scarf (left) is a colorful addition to any bundled up ensemble. Clearly, I have a weakness for a good plush scarf…

The flats, though perforated, are a fun take on a classic, solid slip-on – good for a little playful pop just up until the snow starts to accumulate.

Why polaroids? I love the idea of veering away from all things digital and capturing the moment in another artistic sense – just a fun idea for the coming weeks as the semester winds down.

A phone case update is long overdue – I’m in love with this clear one from Kate Spade. What better for a winter pick-me-up than a little reminder of sunshine?

And most importantly (or so I feel), the panama hat is this year’s ultimate accessory. It’s just about time to finally add one to my own wardrobe, and this soft brown shade is just muted enough to pair perfectly with many layered neutrals.

What are your chilly weather must haves?

I’m reluctant to say it, but I miss summer terribly. Although the relentless heat is often paired with daily complaints, with the current onset of winter, I’d love for the warmth to return. This flannel look was photographed this summer and never went up on the blog — a bit of a throwback, of sorts. It’s probably one of the softest flannels I’ve ever come across, with a slight watercolor effect and perfect, casual Vermonty vibe. I’d pair it with white Converse and a black shearling jacket for this season.

blog planner printable

I feel there are a scarce few things more satisfying than getting organized, whether lists or schedules. Also, who doesn’t love a good free printable? After endless “pinspiration” of other bloggers showcasing their blog panners, I decided to design my own. Feel free to download for your own personal use (see PDF link below).

I find myself hovering around neutrals and solid darks as the season moves forward–chilly temps make the best setting for a more monotone palette. If it were me 5 years ago, blacks + greys were considered sad and drab, but thank goodness for personal style evolution. Even with grunge vibes, greyscale + solids are probably some of my favorites for anyday wear. Also, how fun is this fluffy blanket scarf for fall? It’s so enveloping of warmth that I often can go without a coat, for now…

(Above) Dinner tonight back in town – chicken pot pie mac + cheese at Our House in Winooski. Definitely recommend!

Having a long weekend at home is probably one of the best mid-semester refreshers. Though not quite long enough, there was shopping, coffee, wonderful food + plenty of catching up on sleep. Hopefully amidst the rest of this semester’s craziness, there will be time to enjoy the last of the autumn weather here in BTV as well. It’s been beautiful!
